Venice, the Italian city of water ways and festivals, masquerades and balls. The city of romance and life but beneath the joviality and parties lay darker things. Vampires roam the night and lycanthropes howl at the moon. Do you dare take residence?

It had been another night at the club and something she had a feeling would quickly become a habit. She had danced to half a dozen songs alone and more with random people. The night had seemed to drag on when she had finally decided to leave. Evelyne was tired of being alone. She missed her old pride terribly and therefore, her lioness felt the sting. No amount of anything could fix that.

As she walked through the night, her feet carried her to no place in particular. Eve had no idea where she was going and at the moment, she didn't really care. The lioness had once again let herself get lost in the past. A dangerous place to be when there were things in the present that could do some damage themselves. Her arms wrapped around her body in a way that actually spoke volumes of just how lonely she was.

So lost already, Evelyne was oblivious that she had entered the territory of the local pride. Just as she was oblvious to a male nearby. It wasn't until she was nearly crashing into him that her attention returned and her eyes widened. "I'm so sorry! Are you alright," she asked, brows creasing as she looked him over in the dark

It had finally happened. Marcus had gotten too pent up in the apartment, and he could not wait for Dillon to get home. He had to go out and get some fresh air. So that is how the young male lion found himself on the streets of Venice in the prides lands. He was looking down, starring at his feet, and avoiding eye contact with anyone. His feet was scuffling and he turned down a street just to wander. Next thing he knew, a warm body ran into his a little, and he looked up to find himself front to front with a blond female.

"Oh...yeah...sorry," Marcus spoke out, quiet and obviously sounding shy or at least not use to speaking with unknown people. Then his eyes widened as he felt lion...only it was a female! A female lion?! Really? He hadn't met any since getting out of the ring. There hadn't been many in the pride before the war, and well...yeah. He was suddenly right up in her face. Sniffing in nice and deep before moving his nose to her neck and breathing in.

"You aren't Pride...I should leave..."
Marcus said suddenly nervous and started to back away. He very clearly read off as a normal beta, but he acted more like a low beta or omega.

His eyes had caught her interest and she found herself staring just a little. They were eyes that she could lose herself in and not care. More than that, he was a lion. One that wasn't Pierce. She hadn't heard from him in a while and began to wonder what had happened. Surely he'd given the Pride her number. Yet she hadn't been contacted. Hearing that he was alright had nodding before she went to take a step back, planning on putting space between them.

The widening of his eyes caused her to freeze. A moment later, Eve found him in her face and at her neck, unable to help the small shiver that ran through her body. It seemed like ages since she was last in the presence of a lion that caused her to shiver in a way that had nothing to do with fear. Briefly, her eyes flashed to the golden of her lioness, studying him after he pulled away. Evelyne fought the urge to do what he had done, the urge to bury her nose in his neck and place him into her memory.

Then he was backing away. Confusion shown in her golden orbs, wondering just what was wrong. Pride. A hand rose towards him, as though pleading with him not to leave. "I had given my number to another. He said he was new Pride and that I would be contacted. I have not yet..." she murmured, forcing herself to stand still. Her lioness inched outward, cautiously moving towards the male. You smell...a little like him."

At the mention of meeting another, and him smelling like him caused him to wince a bit. She was talking about Pierce. Pierce the one who...the one who left and left the gaping whole in his chest at the moment. Where was Dillon? He should have waited for him to come home. His breathing was quickening a little as he grew more uneasy. He licked his lips nervously before looking around, and then finally back to her.

"Y-you should find the Rex then...or...or the secundus...s-some times they don't get the message," Marcus mumbled out as if afraid to speak up to someone stronger then him, "I...I should go...Alaric he's..." licks his lips again, and took a few more steps back. He wasn't afraid of Alaric, but he was definitely cautious. If neither one had contacted her yet she should have searched them out. That much he did know from what Dillon had taught him long ago.

However his mind was also debating on taking her to either Dillon or Alaric. Neither one hid themselves that much. At least he didn't think so. Any lion would know who they were, and he would also feel badly if she got hurt because of them acting out and he could have helped her. Then again he might get in trouble for helping her in any way...he didn't think Dillon would be upset with him...but Alaric was different.

She took note of the wince and wondered if something had been said to offend him. She could feel the nerves radiating off of the male and instantly took a step back. Was she that intimidating? Was he that frightened? These questions and more arose within her mind and while she wanted answers, Eve didn't want the male to run away.

"Please...Don't go," she asked softly, her voice nothing more than a quiet plea. She made no move to go towards him or to distance herself. She simply stayed still. "I...I lost my pride...They were killed by rogues...At least, I think they were rogues...I'm not really sure," she murmured, blue eyes filling with an unreachable sadness.

"I don't know where else to turn." That was the honest truth. The people she'd come to rely on were dead. Murdered. She couldn't get them back. She had never meddled in the affairs of her Queen and therefore she didn't know if there was any true reason behind the murders. Was it some type of retaliation? Or just a desire to kill? Eve had no idea and part of her didn't want to find out.

{So sorry this took me ages...My muses went on vacation without notifying me}

Marcus stopped as he heard the plea of not to go...but it was a mixture of a question and statement that his submissive nature made him stop. Hearing her story caused his heart to ache. He wasn't sure what he would do if he survived Dillon's death...and even his Rex's. He knew he couldn't function right on his own...maybe he would go back home. Her final words hit him, and this time he squirmed.

"I...I can't take you back to the pride house.." Marcus said quietly, "if you're lying...I could get in trouble..." he said squirming, and then suddenly he relaxed as he felt Dillon's power lightly touch him. He was near, and his own lion went rushing in the direction of the other lion to get his attention.

"Wait just a minute..."
he smiled a bit, "the secundus is nearby...he could help more than I could.." he said sounding pleasant, and the least bit afraid of the second in command. At least showing that the Pride was a healthy one.

Her eyes had already filled with tears as the memories came rushing back. The faces. The fur. The blood. There had been so much of it. Her body shook slightly as she fought to remain in control of her emotions. She was scared to think what would have happened if she had been there that day. The pain and fear that her Pride must have felt was something she couldn't even fathom.

"I'm not lying, but I understand," she stated, head lowering as she tried to contain her sorrow. When the lion spoke, she barely lifted her eyes. Secundus. Right. The Rex or Regina's right hand person. Eve felt a small surge of hope at the words. "I hope so...I'm not sure how long I can handle being on my own," she murmured.
